“I bought this dress full price and it’s been sitting in my closet for years.”
A few years ago, Changing Hand’s CEO, Sandie stood in front of her closet, facing a dilemma…
“I have this white dress in my closet for years. This dress is too formal for casual occasions and too casual for formal occasions. It’s hard to find a right time to wear it. However, I am hesitant to list it for sale knowing that I have to offer a deep discount and wait forever to find a buyer. Donating isn't much better, considering that the disheartening truth is that most clothes end up tossed into overflowing landfills, only adding to the planet's burden.”
It's not an isolated incident; she continues accumulating similar pieces, caught in a never-ending cycle of amassing clothes too difficult to wear but too nice to part with.
It turns out…
Women in America on average own 103 pieces of clothing. Only 20% of those pieces are worn about 80% of the time!
